Staff Spotlight – Lauren Hudson, PhD

Dr. Lauren Hudson started working at the UT Institute of Agriculture upon earning her Ph.D. in Food Science from the University of Georgia. She uses computational tools to analyze whole genome sequencing data from foodborne pathogens in order to improve epidemiological investigations to identify potential outbreaks. Her research focus includes food safety, salmonella, genomics, and food microbiology, among other many components. She has had 21 articles published from her doctoral work on campus, including being featured in publications such as Applied and Environmental Microbiology and Journal of Microbiological Methods.
