Cynthia Navarro Flores, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and co-director of the Targeting Health Disparities through Research, InnoVation, and Equity (THRIVE) Lab, conducts research that aims to reduce mental health disparities and increasing equitable access to services for marginalized youth and families. Her first line of research focuses on understanding the mechanisms by which adversity impacts the mental well-being of youth in hopes to identify youth who are at risk for developing mental health problems. She has been honored with several awards including the Chancellor’s Doctoral Incentive Program Dissertation Fellowship from the California State University System. She also co-written multiple publications that have been included in journals such as Journal of Traumatic Stress and Encyclopedia of Child and Adolescent Health.
