Faculty Spotlight – Pedro Tomas

Cuban native, Pedro Tomas serves as Senior Lecturer of Spanish for the Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures. Tomas earned his Bachelor’s degree in Theatre and Spanish Literature, and his Master’s degree in Hispanic American Literature. He is an active Board of Directors member at the Knoxville HoLa Hora Latina Organization, a Latino local organization which promotes culture and art while building bridges within the community.

Before joining the University of Tennessee, Tomas attended New York University and Fordham University’s Liberal Arts College at Lincoln Center. After, he started his performing career while he was located in Nashville to work at Opryland USA and continued performing for 30 years. He performed in many theater genres such as television, commercials, and live theatrical productions.
