The Vol Ready Academy (VRA) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and motivated Academy Counselors to support a dynamic, week-long summer leadership experience for rising 8th and 9th grade students. Hosted by the Office of Flagship Communities within the Division of Access and Engagement, VRA is designed to inspire young learners to discover their strengths, develop leadership skills, and build confidence through hands-on activities, collaborative projects, and immersive campus experiences. Academy Counselors play a vital role in fostering a supportive and engaging environment, mentoring students as they explore their potential and begin envisioning their futures as leaders in their schools and communities. A drivers license is required for all summer counselors.
Training Date: Friday, May 29, 2026
Academy Dates: June 1 – June 6 (half-day on June 6)
Where: Primarily UTK Campus
Who: Rising 9th and 8th Graders
Payment: $750 Counselor Stipend
