The L.E.A.D. (Leadership, Engagement, Access, and Development) Scholars program engages and supports students who demonstrate integrity, leadership potential, and a commitment to contributing positively to campus and community life.<\/p><\/span><\/p>\n

\"LEAD<\/a><\/p>\n

The L.E.A.D. Scholars Program is a distinctive, two-year experience designed to support undergraduate students who demonstrate academic motivation and a strong interest in leadership, engagement, and service.<\/strong> This immersive program brings together a cohort of students committed to growing as individuals and contributing meaningfully to their communities.<\/p>\n

By engaging in hands-on projects, guided curriculum, dialogue, and guided exploration, L.E.A.D. Scholars broaden their perspectives and deepen their ability to lead in a variety of settings. The program not only prepares students to make a positive impact during their time on campus but also equips them with tools to serve and lead well beyond graduation.<\/p>\n

Program Outcomes<\/h4>\n

1. Build Self-Awareness and Personal Leadership<\/strong>
\nStudents will explore their individual values, strengths, and goals to develop confidence and clarity in their leadership identity.<\/p>\n

2. Strengthen Teamwork and Collaboration Skills<\/strong>
\nStudents will learn how to work effectively with others, build trust, and contribute to shared goals through respectful communication and cooperation.<\/p>\n

3. Foster a Commitment to Service and Community Engagement<\/strong>
\nStudents will apply their leadership skills through involvement in projects that benefit the broader campus and local community.<\/p>\n

4. Promote a Strong Sense of Belonging and Connection<\/strong>
\nStudents will cultivate meaningful relationships and feel a greater sense of connection to the university through participation in a supportive cohort.<\/p>\n

5. Practice Leadership Across a Broad Range of Experiences and Settings<\/strong>
\nStudents will gain tools to lead with empathy, communicate across differences, and adapt to a variety of group settings and perspectives.<\/p>\n

6. Apply Leadership Learning to Real-World Experiences<\/strong>
\nStudents will integrate what they learn in the program into their academic, professional, and co-curricular activities.<\/p>\n

7. Engage in Reflection and Goal Setting<\/strong>
\nStudents will regularly reflect on their growth, celebrate progress, and set intentional goals for continued leadership development.<\/p>\n

<\/svg> Scholar Commitments<\/b><\/a><\/h3><\/div>
<\/span><\/p>\n

As a L.E.A.D. Scholar, you are expected to actively contribute to campus life at the University of Tennessee by embodying the values of leadership, engagement, and integrity. Your role is to strengthen relationships across campus, contribute to a positive learning environment, and challenge yourself and others to grow as leaders. To achieve these goals, you will:<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Attend regular meetings throughout the academic year with faculty, staff, and fellow L.E.A.D. Scholars to discuss leadership topics, share experiences, and strengthen your personal and professional growth.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Join a campus\/community organization or initiative that aligns with your interests and values, and actively promote leadership, civic engagement, and student connection and contribution.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Participate in and reflect on at least three co-curricular events each semester to deepen your understanding of leadership, community, and social responsibility.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Design, implement, and complete a spring semester capstone project that demonstrates your commitment to making a positive impact on campus and beyond.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    How to Apply<\/b><\/h3>\n

    Requirements for applicants:<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Students must be a rising sophomore or junior.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or above.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Students must commit for a total of two years, with the option of returning to an advisory board for a third year.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Applications will open in Spring 2027.<\/h4>\n

      My experience in the L.E.A.D. Scholars program has been significant. I’ve improved my already existing leadership, time management, and general communication skills.<\/p>\n
